As a BES PTA member, you have a voice in shaping how funds we raise are used. We want to make sure you know how everything works so you can jump right in.
Your Voice & Your Vote
A core part of the PTA is our democratic process. To ensure all voting members are fully informed and have a chance to understand the PTA's goals and financial status, our bylaws require that a member be in good standing for at least 30 days before voting on official business. This is a common practice that helps maintain the stability and integrity of our organization.
Your ideas are always welcome right away! You can share them in two ways:
Speak Up at Meetings: During the "New Business" or "Open Floor" section of our agenda, any member can raise a hand to share an idea or suggestion for the PTA to consider.
Email Us: Feel free to email your ideas or questions to ptabonsallelementary@gmail.com at any time. We love hearing from our members!
What kinds of things do we vote on?
You might hear us call for a vote on matters like:
Approving the budget for the upcoming year or a special project.
Electing officers for the Executive Board (President, VP, Treasurer, etc.).
Amending our standing rules or bylaws.
Authorizing large expenditures not already in the approved budget.
Approving event plans and fundraisers proposed by committees.
Your first 30 days are a perfect time to:
Attend meetings to listen and learn.
Join a committee (like Fall Festival, Yearbook, or Teacher Appreciation).
Introduce yourself to the board members and other parents.
We are so glad you're here. Together, we make a tremendous difference for our kids
